Wireless printing problem

I have a new MacBook Air and printing wirelessly – on either my Canon or Brother printer – I am getting squiggly lines over some of the print.  This occurs if I am printing a pdf downloaded from the internet or if I am printing a billing statement from Quickbooks.  With the latter, if I download the statement first and then print I do not have the problem. Thanks.
