I have my Apple TV4 hooked up to a Sony Bravia home theatre 5.1 and it has worked fine for a week or so. Last night I updated my Apple TV OS and everything went bonkers. The Sony would switch inputs, the sound would go off, I’d lose the ability to control sound through my Sony 4K either through the Bravia or through the TV speakers. Perhaps the Sony Bravia is going bad, but the fact that it worked fine for awhile with the Apple TV4 (and worked for years with Apple TV3) and then everything went south after doing the OS update makes me think that the update caused the problem. Comments? Fixes? Ways to troubleshoot?
