Hi folks,
I’ve searched the forums, and not found anything like the problem I’m experiencing, so here goes…
I have a15-inch Retina MBP of 2013 vintage (early 2013), and for the past week or maybe two, several keys on my keyboard have not been registering at random times. This isn’t the oft-reported problem in which the keys become unresponsive for extended periods of time; it’s just the key during one strike often doesn’t rgister. So, I end up geting “rgister” when I actually type “register” there). So far, the problem seems to be confined to the left side of the keyboard (e and a and sometimes t seem to be the most troublesome), but it also seems to be getting worse. It doesn’t seem to helpmuch if I slow down typing, so I don’t think I’m typing too fast or just missing keys all by myself.
Is there anything I can try to restore operation to normal? I’m reasonably comfortable partially disassembling things if that would help, but I’m not quite sure what to check for if I did disassemble things (the machine is out of warranty). I’d like to avoid a trip to the Apple Store if there’s anything I can try at home.
Remember: this is not the regularly reported problem in which keys become unresponsive for for an extended period of time. As demonstrated with “rgister”, it’s simply a matter of skipping keys intermittently.
TIA for any assistance anybody can provide.
