My Mac pro repeatedly displays Startup disk has no more memory to run program error in the Force Quit Application. I have searched this site for any helpful posts without success.
I have two issues and I’m not sure if they are related. Problem 1) Startup disk has no more memory to run program error though I have 700 GB available. This error usually happens after using the computer for an hour or two. This error is displayed in the Force Quit Application. The programs I usually at the same time are Word, iTunes and Firefox. I will quit everything and I still get this error even when the Finder is the only program open. Problem 2) The computer speed slows the longer I use the computer, after about two or three hours of use the computer slows to where there is a delay from when I push a keyboard key to when the letter shows on the screen.
I have an old;
Mac Pro 1.1, OS 10.7.5, 2 x 2 dual core, 10 GB memory, 500 GB external UBS drive used for Time Machine, 500 GB external FireWire drive with 100 GB used and 400 GB available, internal 250 GB drive empty. OS 10.7.5 in now on the external FireWire 500 GB drive.
Both these issues happened when my OS was on the internal 250 GB drive, though I had 140 GB available. I used the OS disk utilities and Disk Warrior with little effect on the issue. I restored my system on to the external FireWire drive using Time Machine and I reformatted the internal disk. I continue to have the same problems with the external drive. I restored my system on the clean internal drive using Time Machine. The OS folder is on the internal drive though it does not show as a start up disk.
The only idea I have is to buy OS 10.7 and install on a clean drive.
Could these problems be with the 10 GB of memory and not issues with a disk or OS?
Any Ideas?
