MBP – Weird keyboard problem

Hello,

so my girlfriend has this 13″ mid-2012 mbp.

The problem on it is that the letters of the lower row don’t work (that is from W to the “;”, being a azerty keyboard). The left cmd key doesn’t work either. But the first two keys (shift and “<“) and last ones (“:”, “+” and shift) of that row are ok.

Where it gets funny is that I found somewhere that this could be fixed by pushing the two cmd keys 5 times. Which, inexplicably, worked for some time. I had to redo the trick from time to time but it worked. Now they seem to be all gone and I was thinking “ok, this is clearly a hardware problem”. But by pushing on many things at the same time, I discovered that when I press both the cmd keys and the letter B, I get a “^”. With the letter N it does the shortcut for zooming out on chrome (cmd + “-“) and with the letter W (corresponding to Z in qwerty) it puts the volume up, like with the F12 key.

So now I’m lost. I’m considering two things :

– it’s a software problem, somehow the information that the computer recieves from the keyboard is messed up.

– it’s a hardware problem, the connectors for the keyboard are somewhat unplugged/burned/… and pushing some keys together creates a link that shouldn’t be here.

Any ideas or similar experiences on the subject?

Thanks!

Miko
